For the sake of general knowledge, e-cigarettes are actually cigarettes. E-cigarettes are delivered to the respiratory system by means of electronic heating, converting the liquid into a vapor-atomized chemical mixture known as an aerosol.
These aerosols are a new source of air pollution,
The harm has several parts:
1. Nicotine
The amount of nicotine in e-cigarettes can be high or low, depending on the liquid used. On the one hand, the proportion of nicotine liquids on the market is not small; On the other hand, some people who start their smoking career with e-cigarettes are more likely to switch to high-dose nicotine solutions or even traditional tobacco, even if they initially choose low-nicotine solutions.
2. Other toxic releases
When e-cigarettes are heated, they release harmful substances such as formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and acrolein, and may also alter the composition of certain chemicals, creating new potential hazards.
Third, second-hand release
Second-hand aerosols from e-cigarettes have become a new source of air pollution. Some of the metals they contain, such as nickel and chromium, are not only higher than the air, but also higher than second-hand smoke. They are also likely to increase health risks for others, especially those with weakened immune systems and underlying medical conditions.
Four, a variety of additives
Mint, apple, vanilla... Currently, there are 8,000 flavorings in e-cigarettes, only a few of which have been rigorously tested. Some spices, such as menthol, are known to be safe for use in food and cosmetics, but their safety once they enter the respiratory system is unknown.
Do not smoke such "e-cigarettes"!
